Level 42 zählen seit den 1980er Jahren zu den prägenden Bands im Jazzfunk, Sophisti-Pop und Dance-Rock. Die Gruppe um Mark King blickt auf eine lange Bandgeschichte zurück, die in den späten 1970er Jahren begann. Zu ihren frühen Erfolgen gehören die Debütsingle „Love Meeting Love“ sowie das Album „World Machine“, das 1985 einen markanten Karrierehöhepunkt markierte.
In ihrer Anfangszeit spielte die britische Band stark jazz-fusionorientiert, später wurden markante Funk-Elemente und Synthesizer-Strukturen prägend. International bekannt wurde Level 42 unter anderem durch die Single „Lessons in Love“, die 1986 hohe Chartplatzierungen erreichte.
Nach wechselnden Besetzungen und einer zeitweisen Auflösung Mitte der 1990er Jahre reaktivierte Mark King den Bandnamen Anfang der 2000er Jahre. Seitdem tritt Level 42 wieder regelmäßig live auf und veröffentlichte weitere Produktionen, darunter das Acoustic Album aus dem Jahr 2010. Die Band war zuletzt 2022 und 2024 bei den Leverkusener Jazztagen zu Gast.
Ergänzt wird das Konzertprogramm durch den türkisch-zypriotischen Bassisten und Komponisten Oytun Ersan. Seine Musik bewegt sich zwischen Jazz, Fusion und Rock und ist geprägt von melodischen Strukturen, rhythmischer Präzision und improvisatorischer Offenheit.
Mit seiner Band „Blue Deja Vu“ stellt er eigene Kompositionen sowie Stücke aus seinen Veröffentlichungen „Fusiolicious“ und „Fusiolicious II: Now We’re Talking Funk“ sowie „Fusiolicious II: Groove in the Hole!“ vor. Die aktuelle Besetzung mit Rainer Hamacher (Gitarre), Eckhard Meszelinsky (Saxophon), Jan Niemeyer (Schlagzeug) und Christian Dellacher (Keyboards) verbindet verschiedene Einflüsse zu einem modernen Jazz-Fusion-Sound.
Das Konzert vereint Jazz, Funk, Fusion und Pop und richtet sich an ein Publikum mit Interesse an internationaler Live-Musik.

How do I get to Forum Leverkusen?
The Forum Leverkusen is centrally located in the Wiesdorf district, making it easy to get there quickly and hassle-free. It is just a short walk from Leverkusen-Mitte railway station and the Wiesdorf bus station. We therefore recommend travelling by bus or train. For those arriving by car: the Forum has its own multi-storey car park with 380 spaces. However, the car park at the Forum fills up quickly, particularly during major events. If there is already a traffic jam before the entrance to the underground car park, please make sure to use one of the other car parks in the immediate vicinity.

Is the Leverkusen Forum accessible?
Yes, the Forum Leverkusen is accessible. In the Main Hall, for example, there are four wheelchair spaces. Access is provided via two stairlifts. We recommend booking wheelchair spaces well in advance.

Can I bring my coat into the event?
Not in all cases. To ensure that all guests can evacuate quickly in the event of an emergency, the following items MUST NOT be brought into the Forum’s event rooms: Winter coats and jackets, large travel bags and rucksacks, booster seats and cushions (unfortunately, due to the folding mechanism of the seats, medical seat cushions are also not permitted in the Great Hall), pushchairs and walking frames, and other items (such as umbrellas) that could pose a tripping hazard. You are welcome to leave these items at the cloakroom. For events organised by the City of Leverkusen, Culture and City Marketing, this service is free of charge. For other events, the cloakroom fee is €1.50.
Is there catering available at the events held in the Forum?
Yes. For larger events at the Forum, our caterer provides delicious snacks or fresh finger food, as well as refreshing drinks. This allows visitors to enjoy a bite to eat or a speciality coffee even before the event begins. After the event, there is usually an opportunity to raise a glass with a refreshing drink.
